Day of the Dead: A Night to Remember and Celebrate at Camp

The camp not only offers outdoor activities and adventures in nature, but it also becomes a space to celebrate and keep alive our cultural traditions. Among them, the Day of the Dead occupies a special place.

For Camp Santa Ursula, this holiday, full of color, history and symbolism, represents a unique opportunity for children and teenagers to connect with their roots, understand the meaning of honoring loved ones who are no longer there and participate in a cultural celebration that unites families and friends.

A Living Camp Tradition

As part of our summer theme nights, we celebrate this great holiday with “Day of the Dead, a Night to Remember and Celebrate”, where campers live an immersive experience in this Mexican tradition.

📅 Dates: El November 1 and 2 The Day of the Dead is celebrated, although since the last week of October, preparations have begun throughout Mexico. More than a moment of mourning, it is a Celebration of life, where it is believed that the souls of the deceased return to live with their loved ones.

The Spirit of the Day of the Dead at Camp Santa Ursula

During this special night, the camp is filled with vibrant colors, catrinas, shredded paper and altars, recreating the atmosphere of the holiday. In addition, we enjoy traditional drinks, Pan de Muerto and typical Mexican dishes prepared by the Chef del Camp. All of this allows campers to experience and appreciate the richness of our traditions.

More than a Theme Night: Day of the Dead Camp Benefits

Implementing this celebration in our summer season not only enriches the campers' experience, but also provides multiple benefits:

Connecting with Cultural Traditions
In Camp Santa Ursula, we strive to ensure that each theme night reflects the love for our culture and traditions.

Strengthening Family Memory
This event encourages reflection and remembrance of departed loved ones, allowing campers to connect with their family stories.

Creative and Artistic Development
Campers are involved in the creation of altars, decorations and representations, exploring their creativity together with instructors and coordinators.

Promoting Values
Through this holiday, children and young people experience values such as respect, empathy and collaboration, strengthening their sense of community.

Personal Growth
Experiencing this celebration in the camp helps them to see death as part of the natural cycle of life and to develop a more balanced perspective on grief.

Fun Through Culture
The combination of fun and cultural learning is key. Notable activities include:
🎭 Parade of the blocks (Pecoretes, Medians and Granduletes).
